Maths and Physics tuition for Tanglin Trust School students
Tanglin Trust School, founded in 1925, follows a British-based pathway for ages 3 to 18. In the Upper School (Years 10 and 11) students take IGCSEs across a range of exam boards, including Cambridge International and Edexcel, with maths and physics among the core subjects. In the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) Tanglin offers a choice of A Levels or the IB Diploma, which the school calls its Dual Pathway. The IB Diploma has been offered there since 2009. Maths and physics can be demanding at every stage, from IGCSE through to A Level Physics or IB Physics at Higher Level, and many families look for extra one-to-one support to keep pace and aim for top grades.
How the sessions work

We build sessions around the exact board and syllabus a student sits, whether Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, A Level or IB, working through past papers and the exam technique that separates a good answer from a full-mark one. Parents receive a short note on progress after each phase. With Singapore several hours ahead of Europe, an afternoon slot after school in Singapore is an easy morning for the tutor, so lessons fit the week without late nights.
Choosing between A Level and IB maths and physics
One of Tanglin's strengths is the choice between A Levels and the IB Diploma, but that choice shapes how maths and physics are studied. A Level allows deep, specialist focus on three or four subjects, so Maths, Further Maths and Physics can be taken together to a high level. The IB keeps a broader spread, with Mathematics as Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation and Physics at Higher or Standard Level alongside five other subjects. Each route has its own style of examination and its own pitfalls. Tutoring can help a student decide with confidence and then master the specific demands of whichever pathway they choose, whether that means Further Maths depth or the breadth of the Diploma.
