Cookie Policy
This page lists every cookie and similar technology this site uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts and how to turn it off. It complements the Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a site asks your browser to keep, so that the next page knows something the previous one already established. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work as you expect. Others measure how the site is used or connect a visit to an advertising click, and those require your consent.
The same rules apply to the equivalent technologies used here: browser local storage and the tags loaded by Google and Microsoft.
2. Strictly necessary and preference cookies
These are set by pietromeloni.com itself and do not require consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| pm_country | Stores the country the hosting provider derives from your IP address, so prices, currency and the city references shown on the next page match your market without flickering. | 30 days |
| pm_internal | Set only if you deliberately open the site with ?pm_internal=1. It marks the browser as internal traffic and switches Google Analytics off for it. Cleared with ?pm_internal=0. | 2 years |
3. Analytics and session analysis
These measure how the site is used, so I can tell which pages help families and which ones waste their time. Microsoft Clarity also records anonymised sessions, that is mouse movement, clicks and scrolling; text you type into form fields is masked by Clarity before it leaves your browser.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes one browser from another. | 2 years |
| _ga_WVE9BX3BPH | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps the state of the current session for this property. | 2 years |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Links the browser to a Clarity identifier. | 1 year |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins the page views of one visit into a single recording. | 1 day |
| MUID | Microsoft | Recognises unique browsers across Microsoft services. | 1 year |
The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without any identifier that can be traced back to a person.
4. Advertising
Google Ads campaigns run towards this site. The tag below lets a booking or an enquiry be attributed to the click that produced it.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Attributes a conversion, for example a booking, to the advertisement you clicked. | 90 days |
5. Local storage
The study tools keep some information in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie: your progress and your annotations inside the exam simulator, and whether you have dismissed a banner. It never leaves your device, it is not readable by me, and clearing your browser data removes it.
6. How to turn them off
- Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, per site or in general: look for Privacy or Site settings in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Blocking the necessary cookies above does not break the site, it only makes prices and currency default to the international version.
- Google Analytics can be switched off across every site with the official browser add-on.
- Microsoft Clarity follows the Microsoft privacy dashboard settings and respects the browser Global Privacy Control signal.
- Advertising personalisation is controlled from Google Ads Settings.
- On this site only, opening any page once with the ?pm_internal=1 parameter turns Google Analytics off for that browser permanently.
You can also write to pietro@pietromeloni.com and I will remove the data collected about you.
7. Changes
This table is updated whenever a tool is added to or removed from the site, and the date at the top changes with it.
