Neha Saboo Kabra, an IB Chemistry tutor I recommend.

I teach IB Mathematics and Physics, not Chemistry. When a family asks me who to trust for IB Chemistry, Neha is one of the names I give.

Neha Saboo Kabra is an independent online IB Chemistry tutor and a former IBDP Coordinator and Head of Science. She has taught IB Chemistry for thirteen years, first in classrooms in Mumbai and Pune, then in leadership roles at international schools in Jakarta, and now online, full time.

Why I recommend her

I look for the same things I ask of myself: one person who teaches every lesson, real depth in the subject, and care for the student behind the grade. Neha teaches one subject only, and as an IBDP Coordinator she has seen the IB assessment from the inside: how each component is graded and where good students lose easy marks.

“I only teach IB Chemistry. Not ‘science’, not five subjects spread thin, just this one.”Neha Saboo Kabra, on her website

How she teaches

Lessons are one to one and online, usually 60 to 90 minutes once or twice a week, with practice between sessions. Every family starts with a free introduction call and a short demo lesson.

What does an IBDP Coordinator bring to Chemistry tutoring?

A Diploma Programme coordinator works with the whole IB assessment process, from the exam papers to the coursework, so she knows the rules students are judged by. In IB Chemistry that matters twice: in the written papers, where command terms decide what an answer must contain, and in the Internal Assessment, which counts towards the final grade.

Neha built her tutoring around a gap she kept seeing in school: bright students who understood chemistry in class but could not turn it into exam marks. Her lessons work on exactly that gap.

What does Neha Saboo Kabra teach?

Neha teaches IB Chemistry only, in the Diploma Programme at SL and HL and in the Middle Years Programme.

How does she prepare students?

According to her own description, her lessons follow a few constant lines:

  • Exam technique. Turning understanding into marks: command terms and what examiners look for.
  • The difficult topics. Organic chemistry, stoichiometry, equilibrium and energetics, where most IB Chemistry students lose marks.
  • Internal Assessment and Extended Essay. From a vague idea to a focused research question and a well-designed investigation.
  • A plan for each student. Built on the syllabus (SL or HL), the exam timeline and the student's weak spots, with practice between lessons.
  • Progress check-ins. Regular updates to parents, not only at report card time.

What do her results look like?

Neha reports that 85% of her students improved by at least one grade boundary, 52% achieved a 7 in IB Chemistry and 67% scored above the world average. She has taught more than 450 students, in class and online, in countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, India, Indonesia and Singapore.

Two subjects, two specialists.

Many IB students take Chemistry HL next to Physics or Mathematics, often because they are aiming at medicine, engineering or the natural sciences. The subjects meet in the calculations, in logarithms and pH, in rates and exponential decay, in energetics, and in the uncertainties and graphs of every Internal Assessment.

I would rather send a family to someone who teaches Chemistry every day than stretch myself across a subject that is not mine. For IB Mathematics and Physics, that is my work, and a student who needs both can work with each of us on our own subject.

Chemistry guides by Neha

Who is Neha Saboo Kabra?

Neha Saboo Kabra is an independent online IB Chemistry tutor and a former IBDP Coordinator and Head of Science. She has taught IB Chemistry for thirteen years, in schools in Mumbai, Pune and Jakarta and online, and holds an MSc in Organic Chemistry.

Does Pietro Meloni teach IB Chemistry?

No. Pietro teaches IB Mathematics (AA and AI) and IB Physics, SL and HL. For IB Chemistry he recommends Neha Saboo Kabra.

Can Neha Saboo Kabra help with the IB Chemistry Internal Assessment?

Yes. IA and Extended Essay guidance is one of her specialities, from choosing the research question to designing the investigation and evaluating the data.

Why does an IBDP Coordinator background matter?

A Diploma Programme coordinator works with the whole IB assessment process, coursework included, so she knows how the IB grades each component and where students lose marks.

How can I contact Neha Saboo Kabra?

Through her website, teachibchemistry.com, where families can book a free introduction call with a short demo lesson.

My child takes IB Chemistry with Physics or Maths. Can the two tutors work together?

Yes. We are two independent tutors, each responsible for our own subject. With the family's agreement we can share what we see, which helps where the subjects overlap.
