Download IB Past Papers: Every Maths and Physics Paper Since 2010

Past papers and mark schemes are the IB's copyright, and the IB does not allow them to be republished. I do not host any, and nothing on this site is a copy of IB material. Students share them anyway: most of what circulates comes from an unofficial archive known as IBDocs, which the IB has not authorised and which moves to a new address each time one is taken down.

It covers every May and November session since 2010, Maths and Physics, SL and HL, with the mark schemes. Up to 2020 Maths is the old syllabus (Maths HL, SL and Studies); Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation start in 2021. There is no May 2020: that session was cancelled.

I mention it because you will come across it, and because a paper marked against the wrong mark scheme does more harm than no paper. If your school gives you access, use the official routes below first.

The IB enforces its copyright. When an archive gets visible, it receives a takedown notice, the domain goes offline, and a copy reappears a few weeks later under a new name. Even the page that used to list the mirrors has been taken down.

This is why a link printed on a web page, mine included, would be dead within months, and why every "free IB past papers" result you click seems to lead nowhere. An email I can update. When the address moves, subscribers get the new one.

Papers in the archive are uploaded by whoever has them. Most are fine, but variants get mislabelled, mark schemes get paired with the wrong session, pages go missing from the middle of a scan, and figures come out unreadable.

A student who sits a paper under timed conditions and then marks it against the wrong mark scheme does not just waste an afternoon: they walk away confident about a method that will not score. Before you start, check that the session, the paper number and the time zone (TZ1, TZ2) printed on the mark scheme match the paper in front of you, character for character.

If you prefer to stay entirely on the right side of the IB, there are two routes, and one of them is probably already paid for.

Your school.

Most IB World Schools buy full access to past examinations and to the IB Questionbank. Ask your subject teacher, and if the answer is vague, the IB coordinator. Be specific: "Could I have Paper 1 and Paper 2 from May 2022 and May 2023, with the mark schemes, so I can sit them under timed conditions" gets a file; "can I have some past papers" gets a shrug.

The IB sells its papers and mark schemes through Follett, its exclusive publishing partner, at a few dollars each. A paper with its mark scheme lands in the low tens of dollars. You get the real document with the mark scheme that actually belongs to it.

One limit applies to both: the IB does not release the two most recent exam sessions for open practice, so even your school may not hand you last May.

Every student I work with eventually hits the same wall: the papers are finished, and the instinct is to hunt for more. By that point more papers rarely teach you anything new.

Three things pay better. First, the subject reports, in which senior examiners describe exactly where candidates lost marks in each session. Second, the command terms: a large share of lost marks is answering "describe" when the question said "explain". Third, your own wrong answers: cover your working, redo a question you got wrong three weeks ago, and if it does not come out clean twice in a row at speed, that is the topic that will cost you in the exam.
