Question 1

How do you measure a student's progress?

Accepted Answer

Progress is measured against a baseline taken in the first session, when the student works through questions from a real official past paper. From there, errors are mapped to the official mark scheme rather than described in general terms, a written lesson report reaches the parents after every session, and full papers are sat under timed conditions and marked to the official scheme. A single mock is a snapshot; the series is the trend, and the trend is what we act on.

Question 2

Are lessons in English?

Accepted Answer

Yes, lessons are primarily in English. I can also teach in Italian for students who prefer it.

Question 3

How much does a lesson cost?

Accepted Answer

One price per lesson, shown on the fees page in your local currency, and invoiced monthly. Each lesson is 50 minutes, one to one, online, one or two a week at the same price per lesson. Exam months and a second subject are agreed after the first session. Nothing longer than the month is required.

Question 4

How does a lesson actually work?

Accepted Answer

Online, one to one, on a shared whiteboard your child writes on too. We work on real past papers, marked against the official mark scheme while we go, and the board is sent over afterwards.

Question 5

How long does the tutoring programme last?

Accepted Answer

It is one programme, bought month by month, at one or two lessons a week. It runs to a clear point in the school year: the mocks, the IA deadline, or the exam session. Some students need one month on paper technique, others the whole year; I say which after the first session, and nothing longer than the month is ever required.

Question 6

Can you help with IAs and Extended Essay?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I provide structured guidance for Internal Assessments and Extended Essays in STEM subjects.

Question 7

Do you tutor IGCSE students as well as IB?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. IGCSE preparation is one of my core specialisations. I cover both CIE and Edexcel exam boards for Mathematics and Physics, with targeted past-paper practice and mark-scheme strategies to maximise grades.

Question 8

What is the difference between IGCSE and IB, and which do you recommend?

Accepted Answer

IGCSE (taken at 14–16) builds strong subject foundations through structured exams, while the IB Diploma (16–18) is a broader programme with Internal Assessments and the Extended Essay. Many students do IGCSE first then progress to IB. I support both pathways and can advise on the best approach for each student.

Question 9

Do you issue invoices?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I issue regular invoices. Corporate welfare reimbursement programmes are also accepted.

Question 10

How does the selection process work?

Accepted Answer

The process begins with a first session where I evaluate the student's level, goals and learning style. Based on this, I determine whether my programme is the right fit and design a personalised study plan. Places are limited to ensure the highest quality of support.
