The IB Pathway at St. Louis School
The St. Louis School follows a well-structured pathway from IGCSE to the IB Diploma Programme that gives students a strong academic foundation. In Years 10 and 11, students complete IGCSEs across a broad range of subjects, developing core skills in formal examination technique, subject knowledge, and independent study. In Years 12 and 13, they transition to the IB Diploma Programme, choosing six subjects across the IB subject groups and completing the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and CAS requirements. My tutoring for St. Louis students is specifically designed to support both phases of this journey: consolidating IGCSE knowledge and developing the deeper analytical thinking the IB demands, while providing expert IA guidance and exam preparation throughout the Diploma years.
IGCSE preparation: building strong subject foundations for the DP transition
DP Year 1 transition support: developing IB-level analytical thinking from day one
IA mentoring: expert guidance for Maths Exploration and Physics Investigation
Final exam preparation: systematic past paper practice with mark scheme analysis
Specialist Support for Every Phase of the St. Louis Journey
The most common challenge St. Louis students face is the step change in intellectual demand between IGCSE and the IB Diploma. In my experience working with St. Louis students, those who thrive in the DP are not simply those who achieved the highest IGCSE grades — they are those who have developed the ability to think deeply about problems rather than pattern-match to memorised solutions. My tutoring is specifically designed to accelerate this transition. Through carefully structured sessions in Mathematics and Physics, I help students move from procedural thinking to genuine conceptual understanding, building the skills that IB examiners recognise and reward. At the same time, I maintain a practical focus on what matters most: strong IA scores, well-executed past paper practice, and clear, confident performance under exam conditions. For St. Louis students, this combination of intellectual depth and practical exam readiness is the foundation of top IB results.
