History and Overview
The International School of Como (IS Como) was founded in 2002, establishing an international educational presence in the beautiful Lake Como area. The school is part of the Inspired Education Group and offers the full IB Continuum — PYP, MYP and Diploma Programme. With over 360 students, IS Como is known for its distinctive approach to early years education, incorporating elements of the Reggio Emilia philosophy into its PYP programme, blending inquiry-based IB learning with the child-centred, exploratory approach that originated in northern Italy.
IB Programmes and Curriculum
IS Como delivers the complete IB Continuum with a distinctive early years approach. The PYP is enriched by Reggio Emilia principles — an emphasis on the child as a capable learner, the environment as a "third teacher", and documentation of learning as a tool for reflection. This blended approach creates a particularly strong foundation for the inquiry-based learning that continues through MYP and DP. In the MYP and DP years, students follow the standard IB framework, preparing for university with the full breadth of the Diploma Programme.
Campus and Community
Set in the Lake Como area, IS Como benefits from a stunning natural environment that becomes part of the learning experience — particularly in the early years and for outdoor education activities. The school's community of over 360 students is close-knit and international, drawing families from the Como area, the northern reaches of the Milan commuter belt, and the Swiss border region. The lakeside setting provides a calm and focused atmosphere for learning, distinct from the bustle of the city.
Why Choose This School
IS Como is the perfect choice for families in the Lake Como and northern Lombardy area who want a full IB Continuum education. The unique Reggio Emilia–IB blend in the early years provides an exceptionally nurturing start. The Inspired Group backing ensures access to global resources and quality standards. The beautiful lakeside setting and small community create an environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

A programme for each situation
A repeated year at an international school typically starts at $30,000. That is what these programmes are measured against.
$100 an hour, the same for every student, every subject and every format, and the same however you buy.
The path to the target grade
For a grade that has to move by the end of the year, not by next week.
20 hours · $2,000
Exam preparation
For a fixed date: the IGCSE or IB session, or the weeks before mocks.
10 hours · $1,000
Catching up and realigning
For one specific gap: a topic that never landed, or the first weeks after a change of curriculum.
5 hours · $500
One lesson at a time costs the same. What a programme adds is a target agreed at the start, a slot held for you, and the grade followed over time.
